Unfortunately, outside of China and East Asia (where stringent quality control of these Arts exists), a variety of injurious factors operate. This, ironically is a tribute to the attractiveness of these arts to growing numbers worldwide. It does however pose certain dangers to the health of those who are not taught authentic forms, or who are not correctly instructed regarding such basic matters as Tai-Ji and Qi-Gong posture alignment and correct breathing techniques.

Tai-Ji is a potent art, which can easily be abused by the unwary instructor or student; it is an Internal Art. This means that while it is visually renowned for its grace, internally it has a great effect upon the meridians, blood circulation, and organs: please visit our Tai-Ji and Qi-Gong pages, and for more about TCM, visit www.alantinnion.qi-china.com. The consequences of poor teaching over a period will therefore be medically counter-productive.
Qi China Academy, in addition to providing a wide range of services to students and others, is in particular deeply committed to educating the public concerning the medical impact and nature of these arts, which if taught correctly by those possessed of the proper grounding in related areas of TCM, can bestow much greater medical and therapeutic benefits (see our Testimonials page) upon those taught, than when this knowledge and related experience is lacking (and conversely helps prevent unforeseen accidents and medical complications in those who have been poorly or incorrectly taught).
