QI CHINA TAI-JI and EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES
Qi China is committed to the fullest support of the aims and objectives of the Commission for Racial Equality, the Equal Opportunities Commission and the Disability Rights Commission. We share their vision of a multicultural society in which equality of opportunity and freedom from discrimination on grounds of race, age, disability, religion or belief, gender and sexual orientation are the norm and every member of society’s natural right. We are committed to working with these bodies in such fields as survey, keeping abreast of policy initiatives and enacting their conclusions.
Qi China enthusiastically promotes and provides Equal Opportunities in the classes it runs and the services it provides.

Why do we support Equal Opportunities?
Equal opportunities are a matter of rights and responsibilities which benefit society as a whole as well as the individual citizen. Discrimination on grounds of race, age, disability, religion or belief, gender and sexual orientation is still far too common: a negative phenomenon which harms society by causing alienation, fear, anger, loss of potential and a sense of powerlessness and associated social and psychological problems.

Tai-Ji is renowned for its health benefits, and cultivation of a sense of well-being. It forms a uniquely valuable means of bringing together those of different race, religion and gender, the able-bodied, and the less able-bodied, uniting them as brothers and sisters in the positive learning environment of the training class. In a very practical way, Tai-Ji assists those with many different health conditions to play a fuller part in society than would otherwise be the case, thereby not merely supporting equality of opportunity, but making a tangible difference to its realisation in the lives of its practitioners.

Tai-Ji and Qi-Gong, in addition to their many medical and relaxation benefits, also teach their practitioners the social and psychological benefits of self-discipline, competition with themselves rather than with others.
In particular, they encourage them to develop a wholesome sense of being at peace with themselves, which consequently enhances the way they relate to others; in this way directly providing the ideal means for promoting and realising Equal Opportunities.
