Tai-Ji practice - China

THERAPEUTIC AND MEDICAL BENEFITS

Therapeutic and Medical Benefits of correctly practised Qi-Gong and Tai-Ji when provided by an experienced instructor, trained to an advanced level in Traditional Chinese Medicine:

Qi-Gong and Tai-Ji help one to take charge of one's health.

After a period of regular practice , the effects can be felt in one’s enhanced mental, physical, and emotional well-being.

On the mental level, one can think more clearly and one’s concentration is greatly improved.

On the physical level, the body becomes more supple and its movements gain poise and become more graceful.

On the emotional level, one becomes more relaxed, tolerant and generally happier.

Even after a relatively short period of regular practice those disorders caused by anxiety and nervous tension can be greatly alleviated, and in some cases eliminated altogether. Over a long period, there does not seem to be a limit on the healing effects that can be obtained. They are proven to be effective means of preventing some diseases, and promoting longevity.

There is a growing body of literature and scientific research (please see below for a selection of resources) on the beneficial effects of Tai-Ji and Qi-Gong practice on many disorders.

In particular studies have shown that regular practice of Tai-Ji actively assists cardiovascular fitness, flexibility, balance control and helps inhibit the risk of falls in the elderly. Research into the effects of long-term Tai-Ji practice in those who have coronary and related conditions, indicate its remedial benefits.

In addition it is known to have a positive impact on such conditions as arthritis, and multiple sclerosis. Its efficacy in the field of stress and anxiety-related conditions is particularly well-known – Tai-Ji diminishes the effects of these by reducing the physical effects stress creates in the human body. It is possible that it may also have the power to help those suffering from Attention Deficiency Syndrome, and hyperactivity disorders.

There is evidence that Tai-Ji and Qi-Gong can assist in weight loss since the slow, controlled movements have a considerable impact on the internal system, gradually clearing it of the toxins which cause overall and localised areas of weight increase, incidentally burning-off as many calories as much more vigorous forms of exercise.
